Who We Are
About Bee's (Brenda)
I’m Brenda Wornica, a mother, wife, and lifelong learner who found her way to a slower, more intentional life through hands-on experience and a deep love for all living things. I currently live off-grid in Buena Vista, Tennessee, on a homestead my family and I built ourselves.
We use solar power and rainwater, grow food in raised beds and permaculture gardens, and continue to plant a growing food forest. Over the years, I’ve raised and processed chickens and meat rabbits, learned to work with the seasons instead of against them, and found deep satisfaction in providing for my family directly from the land.
This lifestyle wasn’t something I woke up one day and chose — it grew naturally from curiosity, necessity, and a desire to live more connected and responsibly.
For over 20 years, I worked as a licensed veterinary technician in a busy 13-doctor practice in Tonawanda, New York, while also serving as a wildlife rehabilitator. Those years shaped how I see animals, ecosystems, and the importance of gentle, informed care. Currently co-own Blue Dock Media, where I help small businesses build their online presence for over a decade, and I previously owned Happy Shack Oils & More, selling organic CBD products in Amherst, NY. I also started the WNY Seed Library in partnership with the Amherst Public Library to provide free, locally grown seeds to the community.
Today, through Bee’s Herb Shop, I create and sell herbal remedies like salves, drawing salves, and pain relief blends, while teaching others how to grow, preserve, and use plants for everyday wellness. I also teach classes on seed saving, canning, herbal preparations, and cooking from scratch, and share these skills through my YouTube channels, Bee’s Herb Shop and Popup Homestead. Everything I do is rooted in one simple belief: knowledge shared is power returned to the people.
If you’re someone who feels called to grow your own food, learn traditional skills, or simply slow down and live more intentionally, you’re exactly who I do this for. I believe this way of life brings a deep sense of peace, purpose, and confidence that comes from working with your hands and trusting the process. I don’t have all the answers, but I move forward one step at a time, guided by faith and a deep belief that God orders my steps exactly where they need to be.
My hope is that through my writing, teaching, and sharing, you’ll feel encouraged to take that next step—whether it’s planting a seed, making your first remedy, or choosing a more self-reliant path. You don’t have to do it perfectly; you just have to begin.
